Individual and Couples Counseling
“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.”
— Pema Chodron, 1997
Dr. Miscione began her career as an oncology social worker in 2000 in New York City after earning her Masters Degree in Social Work at Yeshiva University, working at Continuum Cancer Centers of NYC and New York University Langone Medical Center’s Perlmutter Cancer Center.
Dr. Miscione went on to complete her Doctorate in Social Welfare in 2013 at Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work.
Her dissertation, Dyadic Adjustment in Couples Living with Stage IV Lung Cancer, researched the impact metastatic cancer had on couples with regard to relationship satisfaction.
Prior to moving into private practice in Aspen & Carbondale, Dr. Miscione worked for 9 years at Aspen Valley Hospital as the Clinical Social Worker and Behavioral Health Coordinator.
Currently, she counsels oncology patients and families as well as those living with other chronic illnesses, are confronting a life transition, traumatic event or are experiencing grief, anxiety and/or depression.
Dr. Miscione is trained in the Gottman Method, which is the only evidence-based intervention for couples. She has been adjunct faculty at Denver University Graduate School of Social Work's Western Slope Program where she taught Clinical Social Work Skills, Cognitive Approaches to Social Work Practice and Human Behavior of the Social Environment.
Dr. Miscione also presents to staff at Aspen Valley Hospital on the topics of conflict resolution and management and resiliency.

About Michelle
My Practice
Informed by a clinical social work framework, I blend a biopsychosocial approach to care with consideration for both historical and current content which factor into a person's lived experience and identity.
Having worked for nearly 25 years in hospital systems, I made the decision to transition to private practice where my skills can be offered in a more customized and boutique setting.
